Kraft Packaging
Unbleached, uncoated, and honest about it.
Kraft skips the bleaching stage, which is why it stays brown. That single decision removes a chemical process, cuts cost, and produces a surface that a lot of brands now prefer aesthetically. It also carries a high recycled content by default and stays kerbside recyclable as long as you do not laminate it.
Print behaves differently on kraft. The brown substrate shifts every colour laid on top of it, so bright whites and pale pastels do not reproduce without an opaque white underbase. The designs that work best lean into the material: one- or two-colour line art, solid blacks, and generous unprinted space.
If sustainability is the actual goal and not just the look, the finish matters more than the substrate. A kraft box with a plastic laminate is not recyclable. We default kraft builds to uncoated or water-based coatings and soy-based inks, and we will tell you plainly when a finish you have asked for breaks recyclability.

Is kraft packaging actually more sustainable?
The substrate is: it skips bleaching, carries high recycled content and is kerbside recyclable uncoated. But the finish decides the outcome. A kraft box with plastic lamination is not recyclable, and calling it eco-friendly would be misleading. Specify uncoated or water-based coatings if recyclability is the goal.
Can I print full colour on kraft?
Yes, but the brown substrate shifts every colour printed on it. Accurate light colours need an opaque white underbase printed first, which adds cost. Designs built for kraft, using one or two colours, solid blacks and plenty of bare board, look better and cost less.
Is kraft strong enough for shipping?
Kraft corrugated is exactly as strong as bleached corrugated of the same flute and ECT rating, because the colour has no bearing on structural performance. Kraft paperboard, like any folding carton stock, is for presentation rather than shipping.
